When Giyan and Josh mentioned that they would like to have their engagement shoot at the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park, I jumped at the opportunity. Josh asked Giyan to marry him while they were in Japan so it was the perfect choice. Kyoto Garden is a hidden gem. It’s tucked away in a secluded spot in Holland Park. It’s peaceful, tranquil and a lovely space to sit for some quiet reflection.
I love Holland Park and its many secret spots. We were blessed with a beautiful day and spent lots of time walking through the park and talking about their plans for the big day. During our time in Kyoto Garden we also met a peacock who was less than camera shy.
I love engagement shoots – they are such a great opportunity for me to get to know my couples and gets them used to being in front of my camera. Giyan and Josh were complete naturals – relaxed, fun, very easy going and as you can see they look amazing. I’m really excited to capture their wedding day later this year.
All of these pictures are shot on medium format film, Fuji 400h on a Mamiya 645 AFD.
